As part of the Year of Working Professions, a formal ceremony marking the launch of the “QazaqGaz Leadership Pool” project took place in Astana from 20 to 22 October. The large-scale initiative aims to develop human capital and nurture future leaders of Kazakhstan’s national gas company.
The event was organised by QazaqGaz Research and Technical Centre LLP. A total of 27 employees from QazaqGaz’s head office and subsidiaries — representing administrative, engineering, and technical roles — were selected for the first cohort after successfully completing a multi-stage selection process. The process included online testing, expert interviews with industry representatives and project partners, an assessment centre, and a final interview with the company’s top management. At the closing ceremony, participants were presented with commemorative pins to mark their inclusion in QazaqGaz’s talent pool.
The educational programme opened with a two-day module focused on developing leadership and communication skills. The training involves leading coaches and QazaqGaz executives who share their management experience and best corporate practices.
The project is being implemented with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, industry experts, and partners including SHL Kazakhstan, Baker Hughes Kazakhstan, BCG Consulting, Dasco Consulting, and Halliburton.
Supported by JSC “NC QazaqGaz”, the QazaqGaz Leadership Pool will serve as a cornerstone in building a modern system for human capital development — aimed at fostering an effective, responsible, and motivated team of professionals capable of delivering on the company’s strategic goals and contributing to the sustainable growth of Kazakhstan’s gas industry.
