Batyrzhan Tergueusizov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for Capital Construction and New Projects at JSC “NC QazaqGaz”, conducted a site inspection of the Kashagan gas processing plant with an annual capacity of 1 billion cubic metres.

The meeting was attended by relevant specialists from GPCI as well as representatives of contracting organisations. During the meeting, contractors presented up-to-date information on the progress of construction and installation works and reported on plans to achieve key project milestones by the end of the current year.

Batyrzhan Tergueusizov emphasised the need to further accelerate the pace of construction. He instructed the teams to strengthen control over construction and installation works, continue efforts to optimise production processes, and placed particular emphasis on strict compliance with industrial and fire safety requirements, including during night shifts.

Background information

Approximately 1,500 specialists are currently engaged at the site, including 941 direct personnel. Around 63 workers are involved in night shifts. More than 346 units of construction machinery are in operation. Special attention is being paid to ensuring safe working conditions, including during night-time operations.

Progress of construction and installation works

  • Foundation works, installation of steel structures, service platforms and process structures are ongoing;

  • Installation of the fire water pipeline is underway, along with formwork and reinforcement of foundations; backfilling and excavation works are being carried out for external utility networks (NVK-2);

  • Welding works on spherical tanks have been completed, with heat treatment carried out on 7 out of 10 tanks;

  • Installation and painting of steel structures on units and pipe racks are ongoing;

  • Installation of sandwich panels is in progress at Distribution Substation No. 3;

  • At the shift camp, works are underway on entrance areas, internal NVK utility networks, electrical installation, low-current systems, as well as the installation of internal partitions.

Progress by key work categories

  • Concrete works for foundations: 58,399 m³ completed (76.7% progress);

  • Installation of steel structures: 8,786 tonnes (43.4%);

  • Installation of mechanical equipment: 4,671 tonnes (47.6%);

  • Tank installation: 1,863 tonnes (92.6%);

  • Underground pipeline installation: 24,608 metres (54.2%).
