Alibek Zhamauov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC QazaqGaz, held a meeting with Byungkweon Moon, Vice President of Kolon Corporation. The parties discussed the development of partnership in the field of gas engine infrastructure and the transition to more environmentally friendly fuels in Kazakhstan. “As part of the joint venture, QazaqGaz and Kolon Corporation operate five automotive gas filling compressor stations (CNG stations) that provide compressed natural gas to about 850 buses per day in Almaty.
The stations supply gas to the transport of various enterprises and contribute to reducing emissions in the country's largest city. New areas of cooperation were also discussed during the meeting, including:
• modernization of existing CNG stations;
• Kolon Corporation's participation in joint infrastructure projects in Kazakhstan;
• the possibility of building new stations in the country.
The expansion of the partnership will be an important step in the development of Kazakhstan's gas engine market. It should be noted that since 2010, QazaqGaz has been closely cooperating with Kolon Corporation as part of the joint venture AvtoGazAlmaty LLP.
