Chairman of the Management Board of QazaqGaz, Alibek Zhamauov, delivered a report at a meeting of the Samruk-Kazyna Public Council, outlining progress on major infrastructure projects aimed at expanding domestic gas supply and strengthening Kazakhstan’s export potential.

With domestic demand for gas on the rise, regional gasification underway, and the country’s export and transit capacity developing rapidly, QazaqGaz is implementing a number of strategic initiatives.

As part of the gasification of the Astana agglomeration, several settlements — including Nurly, Talapker, Shubar, Y. Altynsarin and Akkaiyn — have been connected to the gas network, providing access to 34,700 residents. The city of Kosshy has also been connected, bringing gas to a further 31,200 people. By the end of 2025, ongoing projects are expected to supply gas to around 292,700 residents across 29 settlements, bringing the national gasification level to 63.8%.

In addition, construction of the Taldykorgan–Usharal main gas pipeline and six gas distribution stations was completed one year and four months ahead of schedule. The project will provide gas to 84 settlements in the Zhetysu region, home to 134,000 people, raising the region’s gasification rate from 56.5% to 76%.

QazaqGaz is also modernising the Central Asia–Centre (CAC) main gas pipeline system and advancing the construction of the second line of the Beineu–Bozoy–Shymkent pipeline — a socially significant project that will ensure reliable gas supplies to the southern and central regions of the country.

Work continues on the strategic Kashagan Gas Processing Plant with a capacity of 1 billion cubic metres per year. Around 2,000 workers and 330 units of equipment are engaged on site, with major installations completed and construction and assembly works ongoing.

To meet the growing demand from industry in the Kostanay region, QazaqGaz has also launched construction of the new KS-14–Kostanay main gas pipeline, which will provide fuel to large industrial enterprises.

“QazaqGaz is systematically implementing projects aimed not only at meeting domestic demand, but also at strengthening Kazakhstan’s role as a regional gas transit hub,”
— underlined Alibek Zhamauov.
