Alibek Zhamauov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC QazaqGaz, and Suzanne Coogan, Senior Vice President and Chair of Shell in Kazakhstan, have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. The document was concluded as part of a joint study in the gas sector. The signing took place on the sidelines of the international geological forum Geoscience & Exploration Central Asia.

“Natural gas plays a vital role in Kazakhstan’s energy mix, ensuring the reliability of energy supply and supporting the country’s economic development during the energy transition. The signing of the Memorandum reflects the strategic importance of natural gas within Kazakhstan’s energy balance,” said Suzanne Coogan.

Under the terms of the agreement, the parties will establish a joint technical working group comprising relevant experts to carry out further study.

“The Memorandum lays the groundwork for further cooperation between QazaqGaz and Shell and is aimed at assessing the prospects for the development of Kazakhstan’s gas resources, taking into account growing domestic demand and the strategic need to expand gas supply,” noted Alibek Zhamauov.

The parties reaffirmed their commitment to contributing to the strengthening of Kazakhstan’s gas sector and supporting the country’s long-term energy objectives.
