Lean gas consumption

The resource part of the country's medium-term gas balance should be formed on the basis of the internal resources of commercial gas produced in Kazakhstan. Excessive dependence on imported resources for the implementation of strategically important projects in the future will call into question the possibility of their independent and uninterrupted operation.

Taking into account the current situation, it is necessary to begin full-scale work on the transition to rational and efficient consumption of commercial gas.

Head of State at the opening of the first session of the Parliament of the VIII convocation, Tokayev instructed the Government to develop a Plan for energy efficiency and rational consumption of commercial gas.

The Ministry of Energy, together with the Ministry of National Economy and QazaqGaz NC JSC, have developed a plan for energy efficiency and careful gas consumption for 2023-2025.

The energy efficiency and careful gas consumption plan for 2023-2025 consists of the following main blocks:

- optimization of losses on hydraulic structures;

- creation of a unified gas accounting system (digitalization of gas transportation and gas distribution systems, taking into account international practice);

- increasing the efficiency of the fuel and energy complex;

- establishing commercial gas consumption standards for the population separately for each region, taking into account climatic conditions.

These measures will have a beneficial effect on the general issue of gas balance, namely, they will strengthen the discipline of gas consumption by both the population and industrial consumers, and the fuel and energy complex.

The draft Government Resolution “On approval of the Energy Efficiency and Careful Gas Consumption Plan for 2023-2025” is under consideration by government agencies.

Reminder on economical gas consumption

1.Correct selection of thermal power of the heating system.

Incorrect heat calculations and selection of boiler equipment with a large reserve or, conversely, with a shortage, is one of the main reasons for excessive gas consumption.

2.Insulation of housing.

By properly insulating the facade, roof, floor, and installing energy-saving double-glazed windows, you can reduce gas consumption without altering the heating system. Even with a modern gas boiler and a water-heated floor system, without proper insulation, the generated thermal energy will be partially spent on heating the street.

3.Preventing poor circulation in the heating system.

An increase in the load of pumping and boiler equipment occurs due to the following reasons: a clogged filter in the heating system, incorrectly selected pipe diameters, losses at sealed connections in polypropylene pipes and fittings, narrowing of threaded connections. All this, which in turn increases gas consumption.

4.Maintaining the proper technical condition of the boiler and heating system.

Lack of regular maintenance leads to a decrease in efficiency and improper operation of the boiler, and, accordingly, excessive gas consumption. You should call a service specialist who can service and adjust the operating modes of the gas boiler (competitive market).

5.Elimination of airing in the heating system.

The boiler began to suddenly consume more gas. At the same time, the heating circuits of the radiators and/or water-heated floors began to warm up unevenly. This is all due to the presence of air in the pipes, which creates additional resistance and increases gas consumption in the boiler.

6.Use of heating radiators with greater heat output.

You cannot live without a heating radiator in any residential building. This is an important design that allows you to create an optimal indoor microclimate during the winter season. Popularly called batteries. They are made of aluminum, cast iron, steel, copper, or a combination of several options. The characteristics of the equipment depend on the material and manufacturing method.

7.Maintaining the recommended temperature in residential premises within 20 degrees Celsius by installing thermostats.

In accordance with GOST 30494-2011 “Residential and public buildings Microclimate parameters in premises” (entered into force on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan from October 3, 2014), the permissible temperature standard in the premises of residential buildings and dormitories is – 190C (areas with the highest temperatures cold five-day period minus 31°C and below), and 17 0C (other areas).
