Protection of atmospheric air

As a result of operation of gas transportation system facilities of JSC "NC "QazaqGaz" about 47 names of pollutants are emitted into the atmosphere. At the same time, emissions of pollutants by the Company's enterprises do not exceed the standards established by the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Pollutant emissions are emitted mainly as a result of operation of the following types of equipment: gas piston power plant (GPPP), GCU, boiler houses, HRSG, various candles (separators, fuel gas discharge, filters and regulators, etc.), drainage tanks, receivers, tanks for receipt and storage of diesel fuel.

For the Group of companies JSC "NC "QazaqGaz" has developed and implemented Emissions Management Policy, the main objective of which is to minimize the impact on the atmospheric air.

Within the framework of this document the Company defines the following main tasks on reduction of pollutant emissions into the atmosphere:

- definition of principles regulating the approach to emissions management and intended for mandatory use throughout the Company;

- reduction of air pollutant emissions;

- improvement of environmental safety of production, reduction of emissions;

- rational use of natural resources and leakage prevention.

As part of the Group's Environmental Action Plans for 2022-2030, measures to comply with the standards of permissible pollutant emissions have been defined. In order to control pollutant emissions from stationary sources, the Group adheres to the standards set out in the draft standards of permissible emissions (NDA). Subsidiary organizations, within the framework of the above Plan, have set the task of annual tree planting both at production facilities and at the territory of shift camps.

The Company group regularly monitors and assesses emissions of pollutants as part of the Industrial Environmental Control Program. According to this Program, monitoring of the state of atmospheric air occurs 4 times a year at the border of the sanitary protection zone (SPZ) and at emission sources. Monitoring is carried out by an accredited laboratory using instrumental methods.

In 2022, the volume of emissions of pollutants, including nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulfur oxides (SOx), amounted to 16,019.07 tons.
