A delegation from the Committee on Ecology and Nature Management of Kazakhstan’s Majilis visited JSC NC QazaqGaz to review the company’s key projects in the gas sector. As part of their visit to the national company’s corporate center, deputies toured the Unified Dispatch Center. Additionally, three settlements in the Zhetysay district of the Turkestan region were connected to gas services online.
“Ensuring the country’s gas supply is a strategic priority. The head of state has issued clear directives on regional gasification. In addition, we have introduced a bill promoting efficient gas consumption, which is currently under review with necessary amendments in progress. The Committee’s visiting session focused on these and other key issues. QazaqGaz is actively engaged not only domestically but also in international markets, contributing to Kazakhstan’s energy sector. The company must continue expanding its efforts in all directions,” said Edil Zhanbyrshin, Chairman of the Committee on Ecology and Nature Management.
QazaqGaz Chairman Sanzhar Zharkeshov provided committee members with an overview of the company’s performance from 2022 to 2024 and outlined strategic plans for 2025, along with medium-term priorities through 2029.
“Since 2022, QazaqGaz has undertaken a large-scale modernization of the gas transportation system, fully funded through internal resources, and has successfully implemented infrastructure projects worth approximately 700 billion tenge. We have also attracted investors for exploration projects within our portfolio, securing investment agreements for multiple ventures. Two exploration blocks have already yielded strong gas flows, confirming that our development strategy is on track. Moreover, QazaqGaz has facilitated investor participation in 10 geological exploration projects under favorable terms for Kazakhstan,” said Zharkeshov.
During the meeting, he also provided updates on the construction of a 1 billion cubic meter gas processing plant (GPP) at the Kashagan field, as well as progress on the second phase of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent main gas pipeline—both of which are strategically vital for the country’s energy security and the development of its gas industry.
Deputies underscored the importance of sustainable gas infrastructure development, corporate environmental responsibility, and the efficient use of natural resources.
