Sanzhar Zharkeshov, Chairman of the Management Board of QazaqGaz, delivered a keynote speech at the plenary session of the international Power Central Asia + China Forum, where he addressed the latest trends shaping the global energy landscape.
In his remarks, Mr. Zharkeshov emphasized that the global energy sector is undergoing profound transformation—not only driven by climate challenges but also by rapid technological advances, particularly in artificial intelligence.
“Artificial intelligence is already starting to reshape global energy consumption,” he noted. “Data centers powering AI systems are consuming increasingly large amounts of electricity, much of which relies on natural gas generation. This creates new opportunities for Kazakhstan to position itself as a stable gas supplier and a reliable energy partner.”
As part of the forum, three major agreements were signed:
-
The QazaqGaz Scientific and Technical Center and Sinopec Guangzhou Engineering Co., Ltd. signed a technology partnership agreement in coal chemistry, aimed at advancing deep coal processing projects to produce high-value-added products.
-
The QazaqGaz Scientific and Technical Center and China National Chemical Engineering Corporation International (CNCECI) signed a cooperation agreement on technology solutions for the gas sector.
-
QazaqGaz and China Construction Bank Corporation agreed to cooperate on financing investment projects in the gas industry.
These agreements mark a significant step in strengthening Kazakhstan–China energy collaboration and lay the foundation for future strategic gas sector developments.
