In line with the directive from the Head of State to expand the country’s gas resource base, JSC NC QazaqGaz, together with its strategic partner, JSC Oil Company KOR, has signed a hydrocarbon subsoil use contract for the Shalkar field in the Aktobe Region. The document was signed by Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kudaibergen Arymbek, Deputy Chairman of the Board for Exploration and Strategic Projects at JSC NC QazaqGaz Ulan Burkitov, and CEO of JSC Oil Company KOR Daulet Uzakov. The contract was concluded under the terms of the Enhanced Model Contract (EMC), which provides production-stage benefits, making gas projects economically attractive and highlighting their strategic importance in increasing gas production in the country.
This contract represents QazaqGaz’s first exploration project since receiving national company status in the hydrocarbon sector.
As part of the initial phase of the contract’s work program, an exploratory well is planned for drilling in 2025.
It is worth noting that JSC Oil Company KOR is a domestic company with over 25 years of experience in subsoil use.
QazaqGaz is open to cooperation on all projects with both domestic and international partners.
