Almaty Region - The project "Construction of the 2nd line of the MG 'Almaty-Baiserke-Talgar'" is being implemented as a priority by the directive of the Head of State to convert Almaty thermal power plants to gas.

The length of the gas pipeline will be 62.4 km, a diameter of 530 mm and, a throughput capacity of 1,000,000 m3/h.

The construction of the 2nd line of the MG "Almaty-Baiserke-Talgar" began in October 2023. Currently, 52 km of pipe out of the planned 62.4 km have been welded. Work has started on assembling crane units and launch and reception units for cleaning devices. The completion of construction is scheduled for September of this year.

It is worth noting that in November 2023, QazaqGaz’s subsidiary, Intergas Central Asia JSC, completed the first stage of preparing the gas infrastructure for the Almaty energy complex, according to which two automatic gas distribution stations were built with a capacity of 250 and 150 thousand m3/hour, respectively. In addition, the construction of the TIP-04 jumper between the Almaty-Baiserke-Talgar and Kazakhstan-China gas pipelines with a capacity of 1,000 thousand m3/hour has also been completed.

The implementation of this project will reduce the negative environmental impact of thermal power plants on the ecological situation in Almaty by converting them to burn natural gas. It will also provide a reliable and uninterrupted gas supply to consumers in Almaty and the Almaty region.
