Geological exploration and efforts to expand the gas resource base are ongoing at the Airakty field in the Zhambyl region.

Appraisal well No. OC-1 was drilled to a depth of 1100 m, penetrating Permian sediments. This work is being carried out as part of the field's further exploration, according to the report "Analysis of the Development of the Airakty Field." Perforation and blasting operations were performed at a depth of 826-857 m.

"Today we have excellent news. For the first time, we have discovered gas in the Permian horizon at the Amangeldy field. We have completed the drilling of the Airakty 01 well, which is 1100 m deep. Today, we are starting development. This is a significant achievement for us. After completing all stages, a recalculation of reserves will be made," said Ulan Burkitov, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSC "NC "QazaqGaz."

As a result of the well's development, a commercial inflow of combustible gas was obtained – an important indicator for the further development of Permian deposits. This confirms the high productivity of the Permian deposits and their strategic importance.

The immediate plans include testing the well with hydraulic fracturing (fracking). The well demonstrates promising results, confirming its high productivity and strategic importance for the further development of the Amangeldy group of fields.

Work in this direction is being carried out as part of the implementation of the Head of State's instruction and in accordance with QazaqGaz's strategy to increase the gas resource base. The national company has developed a specific plan, including steps to implement geological exploration projects in the shortest possible time.
