Asylzhan Dauletov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for Exploration and Production at NC QazaqGaz JSC, reviewed the progress of geochemical surveys at the Saralzhyn and GIN-1 “Caspian” blocks in West Kazakhstan Region.

QazaqGaz Exploration and Production LLP is conducting high-precision helium surveys in partnership with a domestic company specializing in digital geochemistry and high-precision helium surveying. The work covers the Saralzhyn contract area and the GIN-1 “Caspian” geological study area. According to Asylzhan Dauletov, the main helium survey work at the Saralzhyn block has already been completed.

“The survey scope comprises 3,000 sampling points at the Saralzhyn block and 22,500 sampling points at the GIN-1 ‘Caspian’ block. Subsequently, work will continue at the GIN-2 block in the Shu-Sarysu Basin and the GIN-3 block in the Teniz Basin, near Astana,” he said.

The method involves measuring helium concentrations in soil gas to identify geochemical anomalies. Regional surveys help identify areas for further investigation, while detailed surveys refine the boundaries and characteristics of the anomalies detected.

The survey results will be analyzed alongside geological and geophysical data and used to plan seismic surveys, refine prospective exploration targets, and support the selection of exploration well locations.
