Progress on EPC works at the Kashagan Gas Processing Plant has reached 60%. Once commissioned, the facility will be capable of processing 1 billion cubic metres of associated gas per year and producing approximately 727 million cubic metres of marketable gas annually.
The progress of the project was reviewed by Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy, Yerlan Akkenzhenov, during a working visit to the Atyrau Region.
The project is being implemented by GPC Investment LLP, a subsidiary of QazaqGaz NC JSC. The plant will become one of the key facilities in Kazakhstan’s gas processing industry, enabling an increase in the volume of associated gas processed from the Kashagan field.
To date, 97% of the main equipment has been delivered to the construction site. The construction of the camp and railway infrastructure for the delivery of oversized cargo has been completed. Approximately 2,000 specialists are involved in the project. The installation of process equipment, the laying of utility networks and the construction of the main production facilities are ongoing.
During the visit, the Minister was briefed on the progress of construction and installation works, equipment deliveries and the implementation of the next stages of the project. According to the project owner, construction is progressing at an accelerated pace in line with the approved schedule.
“The Kashagan Gas Processing Plant is of strategic importance for the further development of Kazakhstan’s gas industry. The commissioning of the plant will enable us to increase the processing of associated gas, improve the efficiency of developing one of the country’s largest oil and gas fields and supply the domestic market with additional volumes of marketable gas. Our task today is to ensure the timely commissioning of the facility,” Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov said following his visit.
“The implementation of the project remains under the constant supervision of QazaqGaz. Recognising the importance of this project to the country’s economy, we are taking all necessary measures to ensure the high-quality and timely completion of construction of the Kashagan Gas Processing Plant,” said Alibek Zhamauov, Chairman of the Management Board of QazaqGaz NC JSC.
