Construction of a gas processing plant (GPP) is continuing in the Atyrau Region, with public hearings held in the Makat District in connection with the project’s Environmental Protection Section for the Integrated Gas Treatment Unit (IGTU). The meeting brought together community representatives, experts and college students to discuss the environmental impact of the construction, including potential air and water pollution, as well as measures to mitigate adverse effects on the local ecosystem.
Contractors presented details of the technologies to be deployed at the plant and the integrated gas treatment process, which drew considerable interest from attendees. Operational safety was also discussed, particularly accident prevention measures and emergency response procedures.
More than 1,858 specialists are currently engaged at the site, including 1,274 direct employees. Around 107 workers are involved in night shifts. Over 346 units of construction equipment are in operation. Particular emphasis is being placed on ensuring safe working conditions, including during night-time operations.
