The supply of natural gas has commenced in the town of Kosshy. The launch took place during a teleconference with the participation of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev. The ceremony was also attended by Akmola Region Akim Marat Akhmetzhanov and Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “NC QazaqGaz”, Alibek Zhamauov.
The project was implemented by the national company QazaqGaz together with its subsidiary QazaqGaz Aimaq. The total cost amounted to 11.4 billion tenge.
The pipeline network, stretching 409 kilometres, will provide a transport capacity of 32.8 thousand cubic metres of gas per hour. According to representatives of the gas company, the new distribution station will ensure a stable supply for more than 18,000 consumers — a critical factor ahead of the upcoming heating season.
Particular attention was paid to the project by the President, who underlined the importance of gasification in improving quality of life and promoting the sustainable development of Astana and its wider agglomeration.
One of the first consumers connected was 100-year-old Second World War veteran Nurkasym Azhitayuly. His home has been fitted with the first “smart meter” in Akmola Region. According to QazaqGaz Aimaq, more than 73,000 such devices are already in use across the country, enabling automatic data transmission and reducing losses.
“Gasification of Kosshy is part of our systematic work to ensure the country’s sustainable and reliable gas supply. We are implementing projects that have a direct impact on people’s quality of life and lay a solid foundation for economic growth,” noted Alibek Zhamauov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “NC QazaqGaz”.
The company also announced the launch of a mobile application that uses artificial intelligence to recognise meter readings, enhancing system transparency.
In the longer term, the gasification project will cover the entire Astana agglomeration, creating comfortable living conditions for residents and unlocking new opportunities for business.
