JSC NC QazaqGaz recently approved a Low-carbon Development Program, which defines the Company's strategic vision and objectives to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 10% by 2033 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. The implementation of this Program is a key element of QazaqGaz's ESG agenda, reflecting the Company's ambitions to create an environmentally sustainable and socially responsible business. The training on this topic was organized with the assistance of the international consulting company KPMG, which presented world-leading practices and tools for developing low-carbon transition strategies and managing ESG indicators.
The purpose of the seminar is to reveal the specifics of the implementation of a set of measures provided for by the Program. During the event, global and national trends in decarbonization, the principles of forming the company's carbon profile, methods for calculating the carbon intensity of products, as well as possible measures to reduce emissions were considered. Special attention was paid to practical cases: participants worked with real data, modeled scenarios of low-carbon development and evaluated the effectiveness of measures to reduce emissions in subsidiaries. The workshop was a significant step in shaping QazaqGaz's unified approach to emissions management and achieving corporate goals to reduce greenhouse gases. The participants noted the practical orientation of the program and the possibility of applying the acquired knowledge in the development of measures to reduce the carbon footprint in their departments.
