QazaqGaz has held its first corporate training session as part of the introduction of the Human & Organisational Performance (HOP) programme. HOP is a modern approach aimed at strengthening safety culture and enhancing the resilience of operational processes.
During the two-day training, participants explored the impact of human factors on safety and reliability, the nature of errors in real-world operating conditions, and practical ways to manage risks by improving systems, processes and working environments. A dedicated session focused on the five core principles of HOP: people are fallible; errors are predictable; context shapes behaviour; improvement comes from understanding how work is actually performed; and responses to errors and incidents should prioritise strengthening protective barriers and preventing recurrence, rather than assigning blame.
The practical component included case studies, discussions of typical on-site situations, and leadership and communication tools designed to foster openness, trust and the collective identification of hazards. Following the training, next steps were defined to integrate HOP principles into day-to-day safety management and operational reliability processes across the QazaqGaz group.
