Batyrzhan Tergeussizov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for New Projects at QazaqGaz, held an on-site meeting at the construction site of the gas processing plant being built at the Kashagan field in the Atyrau region. The meeting was attended by specialised GPCI experts and representatives of contractor organisations.

During the meeting, the contractors provided up-to-date information on the progress of construction and installation works and reported on their plans to achieve the project’s key milestones by the end of the current year.

Batyrzhan Tergeussizov stressed the need to further accelerate the pace of construction. He instructed the team to strengthen oversight of construction and installation works, continue efforts to optimise production processes, and emphasised the importance of strict compliance with industrial and fire safety requirements, including during night-time operations.

Background

More than 2,042 specialists are currently engaged on-site, including 1,477 direct personnel. Around 167 workers are involved in night shifts. Over 343 units of construction equipment are in operation. Particular attention is being paid to ensuring safe working conditions, including during night-time activities.

Progress on Construction and Installation Works

• Ongoing foundation works, installation of steel structures, service platforms and technological structures.
• Installation of the fire pipeline, formwork and reinforcement of foundations, as well as backfilling and excavation along external utility networks (NVK-2).
• Assembly, welding and painting of RVS-5000 storage tanks continues.
• Ongoing installation and painting of steel structures on units and pipe racks, including service platforms and the administrative and amenity building.
• Works continue at the camp area, including cable line installation, electrical equipment installation, trenching, manhole installation and polyethylene sewer pipe works.
• Hydrotesting of the tank at Unit 20 has been completed.

  • Concrete works for foundation construction: 56,695 m³ completed (74.4%)

  • Installation of steel structures: 6,043 tonnes (30.0%)

  • Installation of mechanical equipment: 4,433 tonnes (45.4%)

  • Tank installation: 1,712 tonnes (85%)

  • Laying of underground pipelines: 22,176 m (48.8%)
