Alibek Zhamauov, Chairman of the Management Board of QazaqGaz, inspected the progress of construction works at the gas processing plant (GPP) at the Kashagan field in the Atyrau region. The site visit was attended by QazaqGaz specialists as well as senior representatives of the contractor companies Kazakh Construction Group and Integra Construction KZ.

Contractors reported on the status of construction and installation works and presented updates on the achievement of key project milestones planned by the end of the year.

Mr Zhamauov stressed the need to further mobilise resources and accelerate construction momentum in the coming year. He noted that construction activities remain under constant oversight and instructed the teams to continue optimising production processes. Particular emphasis will be placed on strict compliance with industrial and fire safety requirements, including during night-time operations.

More than 1,778 specialists are currently engaged at the construction site, with around 140 workers involved in night shifts. Over 346 units of construction equipment are in operation. Ensuring safe working conditions, including during night-time works, remains a key priority.

Construction and installation works (CIW) progress

  • Foundation works, installation of steel structures, service platforms and process structures are ongoing;

  • Installation of the fire protection pipeline, formwork and reinforcement of foundations is underway, along with backfilling and excavation for external utility networks (NVK-2);

  • Welding and painting of RVS-5000 storage tanks are being carried out;

  • Installation and painting of steel structures on units and pipe racks continue, including service platforms and the administrative and amenity block;

  • At the shift camp, works are underway on cable laying, installation of electrical equipment, trenching, installation of manholes and laying of polyethylene sewer pipes;

  • Hydraulic testing of the tank at Unit 20 has been completed.

Progress by key work categories

  • Concrete foundation works: 57,880 m³ completed (76.3%);

  • Steel structure installation: 8,205 tonnes (40.7%);

  • Mechanical equipment installation: 4,547 tonnes (46.6%);

  • Tank installation: 1,863 tonnes (92.6%);

  • Underground pipeline installation: 24,425 metres (50.0%).

QazaqGaz continues to exercise comprehensive oversight of the project’s implementation, ensuring adherence to construction schedules as well as compliance with established quality and safety standards at all stages.

During the working visit, Mr Zhamauov also reviewed the construction of the liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) reception, transshipment and fractionation plant. The current status of works and plans for commissioning were discussed. The project remains in an active phase, with near-term priorities including continued foundation and pipeline works, completion of substation and overhead power line installation, and delivery of the remaining equipment required for assembly and start-up of the plant units.
