Alibek Zhamauov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “NC “QazaqGaz,” inspected Atyrau’s readiness for the upcoming heating season and visited the construction site of the automated gas distribution station (AGRS) “Sputnik” near the village of Talgairan.
The new station, with a throughput capacity of 120,000 nm³ of gas per hour, will become a key facility for supplying the left-bank part of Atyrau, including the villages of Besikty and Damba, as well as part of the Makhambet district up to the village of Alga. If necessary, through a 400 mm jumper pipeline, gas can also be directed to the right-bank part of the city, thereby reducing the load on the existing GDS-1 “Atyrau” and AGRS “Finskaya.”
According to representatives of local executive authorities, the rapid growth in gas consumption in Atyrau requires accelerated commissioning of new facilities. The launch of AGRS “Sputnik” will ensure uninterrupted gas supply to new residential areas and infrastructure facilities.
As part of his inspection of gas supply facilities, the head of QazaqGaz also reviewed the operation of the “SATs-4” main gas pipeline. JSC “Intergas Central Asia” is implementing a comprehensive program to replace and repair defective pipes to ensure gas transportation via the combined SATs-4/SATs-5 route. Over the summer period, more than 6,000 defective pipes were replaced.
In addition, work is underway to replace defective pipes on the SATs-4 looping section. To date, 337 pipes have been replaced, and another 799 defects are scheduled for elimination to ensure uninterrupted transit of increasing transport volumes. All work on the main gas pipeline is planned to be completed before the start of the heating season.
QazaqGaz Group, for its part, will make every effort to ensure stable gas supply during the autumn-winter period, when system loads traditionally increase.
