Batyrzhan Terguesizov, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board for New Projects at JSC NC QazaqGaz, held an on-site meeting at the construction site of the gas processing plant (GPP) at the Kashagan field in the Atyrau region. The meeting was attended by the company’s specialists and representatives of contracting organisations.

During the session, contractors provided up-to-date information on the progress of construction and installation works and outlined plans for achieving key project milestones by the end of this year.

Mr Terguesizov highlighted the positive results achieved in resource mobilisation while stressing the need to further accelerate the pace of construction. He instructed the teams to strengthen oversight of construction and installation works, continue efforts to optimise production processes, and underlined the importance of adhering to industrial and fire safety requirements, including during night shifts.

The site currently employs more than 1,902 specialists, including 1,331 direct staff. Around 165 employees are engaged on night shifts. Over 356 units of construction machinery are in operation. Particular emphasis is placed on ensuring safe working conditions, including at night.

Progress on construction and installation works:

  • Hydraulic testing completed on an 8,000 m³ storage tank and 2,000 m³ cooling towers.

  • Assembly of vertical tanks continues at the Firefighting and Water Supply Units (titles 20 and 40): hydraulic testing completed on two of six 5,000 m³ tanks and both 1,000 m³ tanks. Assembly of 600 m³ spherical tanks is under way at the LPG Storage Park (titles 09 and 10).

  • Hydraulic testing completed on Utility Network Complex (UNC-1) with more than 12 km of underground pipelines. Installation of underground pipelines continues at UNC-2.

  • Works ongoing on concreting foundations, assembling steel structures, installing process equipment and service platforms, as well as assembling RVS-5000, RVS-1000 and 600 m³ spherical tanks (titles 40, 09 and 10).

  • Fireproof coating of steel structures in progress.

  • Construction of external engineering networks (UNC-2) is ongoing.

  • At the GPCI camp, roofing has been completed on the administrative and utility complex and on two dormitories with capacities of 132 and 140 beds.

  • Works continue on laying cable ducts, installing electrical instruments, sensors and switchboards, preparing for heat pipeline installation and fitting internal partitions.

Performance by key work categories:

  • Concrete works for foundations: 53,219 m³ completed (70.2%).

  • Installation of steel structures: 4,131 tonnes (20.4%).

  • Installation of mechanical equipment: 4,275 tonnes (44.1%).

  • Installation of tanks: 1,180 tonnes (43.6%).

  • Laying of underground pipelines: 20,101 m (43.7%).
