Executives from JSC “NC “QazaqGaz” and the NCOC team, led by Managing Director Giancarlo Ruiu, visited the Kashagan field to review the progress of the new Gas Processing Plant (GPP) construction.
Representatives from the general contractor, GPC Investment LLP, together with Arai Kaiyrzhanova, Director of Raw Gas Processing Department at QazaqGaz, and Edwin Bloom, Executive Consultant for Major Capital Projects Implementation at QazaqGaz, provided an update on the project schedule and upcoming construction milestones.
"We discussed critical technical aspects with the NCOC team. As we approach the commissioning and startup phases, it’s essential that we align closely to ensure a smooth and coordinated launch of the plant," noted Edwin Bloom.
During the site visit, both QazaqGaz and NCOC representatives gained a comprehensive understanding of the project's current status and future outlook.
An additional weekly production meeting was held with the project designer and equipment suppliers. Representatives of the lead consortium member, Kazakh Construction Group LLP, reported accelerated progress in installation and welding works, as well as increased productivity in concrete production and delivery. The team also confirmed the order of an amine solution used to remove hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans, and other sulfur compounds from raw gas.
Construction and Installation Progress:
- Foundation works completed: 39,814 m³ (59.5%)
- Equipment installation: 2,503 tons (24.7%)
- Steel structure installation: 2,625 tons (13.6%)
- Underground piping installation: 13,288 meters (32.8%)
The leadership of QazaqGaz emphasized the importance of maintaining strict quality control over all construction and installation activities.
