The QazaqGaz Scientific and Technical Center presented its achievements in geology during a reporting session with the company’s leadership and geological community. Sanzhar Zharkeshov, Chairman of the Board at JSC NC QazaqGaz, was briefed on the progress of the Department of Geology and Field Development.

STC General Director Meir Sheraly outlined the center’s mission and its critical role in addressing production challenges across the QazaqGaz group. Key projects include geological support for drilling the Airakty-108 and Barkhannaya G-6 wells, aimed at discovering new fields and refining geological structures. The team is also digitalizing historical field data to enhance the capacity of underground gas storage facilities.

Ongoing initiatives feature a comprehensive evaluation of the Shu-Sarysu sedimentary basin, a key region for hydrocarbon exploration. The center is optimizing gas production at the Amangeldy fields by improving extraction techniques and resource management. Collaborative efforts with QazaqGaz’s Exploration and Production division are advancing the Anabay field, while Chevron joins the STC in analyzing seismic data and studying core samples from the KT-III site.

Beyond operational projects, QazaqGaz focuses on building expertise in field development. This includes crafting strategies to improve gas recovery and developing projects that boost production efficiency.

Notably, the QazaqGaz STC is the first innovation hub of its kind in the gas sector, modeled on the success of R&D centers in leading global oil and gas companies. These centers play a pivotal role in expanding resource bases, unlocking hard-to-recover reserves, and sustaining production through cutting-edge technologies.
