QazaqGaz Aimaq JSC, a subsidiary of QazaqGaz NC JSC, is continuing its comprehensive programme to prepare gas distribution systems for the 2026–2027 autumn and winter heating season. To date, 34% of the planned works have been completed.
“The preparation programme covers more than 77,000 kilometres of gas distribution networks and over 287,000 gas infrastructure facilities across the country. More than 5,000 operational personnel are involved in the works, ensuring reliable and safe gas supplies for consumers throughout the upcoming heating season,” said Askar Konakbayev, Director of the Production and Technical Department at QazaqGaz Aimaq.
The programme includes routine maintenance of gas regulating stations, servicing of shut-off equipment, repairs to electrochemical protection systems, and instrument-based inspections of gas pipelines.
Particular emphasis is being placed on improving the reliability of gas distribution infrastructure. This year, the company is implementing 227 measures aimed at addressing the causes of gas pressure drops and reducing the number of incidents across distribution networks.
Projects currently underway include the creation of looped pipeline connections, installation of additional cabinet-type gas regulating units, replacement of pressure regulators, and increasing the diameter of selected pipeline sections.
Consumer safety remains a key priority. During the last heating season, the company carried out a large-scale public awareness campaign promoting the safe use of natural gas in households. More than 580 video segments were broadcast on national and regional television channels, over 470 preventive inspections were conducted jointly with local authorities and emergency services, around 300 articles were published in print and online media, and more than 130,000 safety leaflets were distributed to residents.
In addition, QazaqGaz Aimaq, in cooperation with the Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has organised a weekly SMS campaign via the 112 emergency number to promote safe gas usage practices among the public.
“To enhance safety standards and ensure the timely detection of gas leaks, QazaqGaz Aimaq actively employs modern mobile diagnostic systems. Since the beginning of the year, the DLS Pergam mobile laboratory has surveyed 5,595 kilometres of gas distribution networks. As a result, 104 gas leaks have been identified and rectified,” Mr Konakbayev added.
At the same time, the company continues to implement gasification projects across Kazakhstan. In the capital, the first and second phases of the gasification programme have been completed, while the third phase is currently being partially implemented. Once all stages are completed, approximately 300,000 residents of Astana will gain access to natural gas. Gas supply has already been connected to key elements of the city’s energy infrastructure, including CHP-1, CHP-2, CHP-3 and gas-fired heating plants.
Gasification works are also continuing in the city of Kosshy. Following the commissioning of the first start-up complex, around 8,000 customers gained access to natural gas. The launch of subsequent complexes will provide gas supply to more than 10,000 additional consumers.
Furthermore, over recent years, natural gas has been introduced to dozens of settlements in the Arshaly and Tselinograd districts of Akmola Region. Further expansion of gas infrastructure is planned for 2026–2027, enabling additional communities across the region to benefit from a cleaner and more convenient source of energy.
QazaqGaz Aimaq remains committed to ensuring reliable, safe and uninterrupted gas supplies for consumers across Kazakhstan throughout the heating season.
