Chairman of the Board of JSC “NC “QazaqGaz” Sanzhar Zharkeshov spoke at the Plenary meeting as part of “Kazakhstan Energy Week - 2023”. The topic of the discussion was “The Energy of Opportunities: From Uncertainty to Sustainability.” The key speakers at the meeting were representatives of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Samruk-Kazyna Fund, and sizeable foreign oil and gas companies.
In his speech, Sanzhar Zharkeshov noted that Kazakhstan has all the prerequisites to become a regional leader in the gas industry. These include resources, reserves, geographic location, ongoing pricing reforms, and years of experience in complex oil and gas projects.
“Predicted gas reserves are 62 trillion cubic meters, while approved and recoverable volumes amount to 4 trillion cubic meters. This puts us in fifteenth place, but that has barely scratched the surface. If we convert 62 trillion cubic meters into proven intelligence data, we can enter the top 10 countries,” Sanzhar Zharkeshov noted in his speech.
In addition, the important role of gas in the energy transition and global energy security was noted.
