Beijing - During a working trip of the Chairman of the Board of NC "QazaqGaz," Sanzhar Zharkeshov, to the People's Republic of China, negotiations were held with the leadership of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), PetroChina International, and TapLine.
The parties highlighted significant prospects for expanding cooperation in the gas sector and expressed readiness to enhance the utilization of the potential in this field. As part of the implementation of the assignments given by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the negotiations addressed the issues of a new export contract with China and the construction of the second line of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline.
Moreover, the prospects of joint exploration and development of deposits, as well as the study and conduct of geological exploration works in promising subsoil areas within the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, were discussed.
It is worth noting that in May 2023, during the first "Central Asia - China" Summit attended by heads of states, a Cooperation Agreement in the field of natural gas supply and geological exploration was signed between QazaqGaz and CNPC. The document also laid the foundation for commencing the construction of the second line of the Beineu-Bozoi-Shymkent gas pipeline.
