Sanzhar Zharkeshov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “NC QazaqGaz,” visited Akmola Region and the Astana metropolitan area to assess the progress of ongoing gasification efforts. In the city of Kosshy, a major infrastructure project is underway to build a supply pipeline and a comprehensive gas distribution network. Once completed, the project will provide natural gas to over 12,000 homes.
The initiative includes the construction of more than 408 kilometers of gas pipelines. It also features the installation of a high-capacity gas distribution station (GRP) with a throughput of up to 32,800 cubic meters per hour, as well as 43 cabinet-type gas control units (ShRP) of various models.
The Kosshy gasification project is being implemented in three phases. To date, 2 km of high-pressure pipeline have been fully installed, 29.8 km of medium-pressure pipeline have been laid, 17 ShRP units have been installed, and 122.1 km out of the planned 367.9 km of low-pressure pipeline have been completed. The project currently involves 92 specialists and 27 units of specialized equipment.
Thanks to support from the Akmola regional administration, a phased gas launch has been approved, divided into three operational complexes:
-
Phase I: connection of 5,923 households
-
Phase II: 4,144 households
-
Phase III: 2,664 households
Once all three phases are up and running, residents of Kosshy will gain access to a reliable, environmentally friendly energy source — significantly improving quality of life.
The gasification of Kosshy is part of a broader initiative to expand gas infrastructure in the Akmola Region and around Astana. The project aims to reduce coal consumption and improve environmental conditions. In 2025, further gasification is planned for the villages of Koyandy, Akkayin, Talapker, and Ybyray Altynsarin, home to roughly 16,000 residents.
