Chairman of the Board of JSC "NC "QazaqGaz" Sanzhar Zharkeshov has once again visited the construction site of the Kashagan gas processing plant (GPP), which will have a capacity of 1 billion cubic meters.
Zharkeshov noted significant progress on the project, highlighting the completion of major concrete pouring work. The installation of steel structures and mechanical equipment is also underway, along with the mobilization of 400-ton cranes. So far, two cranes with a lifting capacity of up to 200 tons have been delivered to the site.
During his visit, Zharkeshov also held a working meeting with Atyrau Region Akim (Governor) Serik Shapkenov. The discussion focused on the project's implementation, its regional significance, and the support provided by local authorities. Executives from the general contractors, KCG LLP and Integra LLP, also participated, reporting on the latest construction progress, addressing key challenges, and presenting updates on the project's milestones. After the meeting, contractor representatives visited the construction site to provide a detailed briefing on the completed phases of the project.
Currently, the overall project progress stands at 42%. According to the latest data, 90% of the equipment has already been delivered, and over 900 workers and 75 units of machinery are engaged in the construction. At the peak of construction, starting in May 2025, the workforce is expected to increase to 2,000.
“Construction and installation work is in full swing. With the arrival of spring, we will begin installing large-scale technological equipment. As per the timeline approved by the Government of Kazakhstan, the GPP is scheduled to be commissioned by late 2026,” said Zharkeshov.
Once fully operational, the plant is expected to produce approximately:
- 727 million cubic meters of commercial gas,
- 115,500 tons of liquefied petroleum gas,
- 17,000 tons of composite gas-stable product, and
- 218,500 tons of granulated sulfur annually.
Additionally, Zharkeshov inspected the progress of the liquefied gas terminal construction. This facility is considered a crucial socio-economic project for the region and will serve as an essential component of the gas transportation infrastructure. The construction is progressing according to schedule and remains under continuous supervision.
