Gasification

Gasification of the country’s regions is one of the most large-scale and socially significant areas of the Company’s work. In addition to the QazaqGaz group of companies, state and local executive bodies of the Republic of Kazakhstan also participate in it.

- On July 26, 2023, KazTransGas Aimak JSC, a subsidiary of the national company QazaqGaz, connected the settlements of Baiterek and Zhambyl-2 of the Keles region to natural gas.

Gas pipelines to supply these villages with natural gas began to be built in 2021. To deliver “blue fuel” from the gas distribution station named after Gani Muratbayev to the settlements of Baiterek and Zhambyl-2, more than 25 km of gas pipelines were laid, 2 gas control points (GRP) and 414 cabinet GRP were installed. Thanks to the event held today, it is possible to connect 544 residential buildings to natural gas.

- A subsidiary of NC QazaqGaz JSC, KazTransGas Aimak JSC, connected the village of Ibata to natural gas in the Sauran district of the Turkestan region. More than 8 thousand residents of the Turkestan region received access to gas. The project is being implemented as part of the execution of the order of the head of state on gasification of the regions of Kazakhstan.

- In April 2023, a new underground high-pressure gas pipeline with a length of 60 km was completed and put into operation in the Mangistau region. It connects the village of Kuryk with the Sarsha area and the Warm Beach resort area near Aktau. This project was carried out according to the instructions of the President of the country. The project was implemented by KazTransGas Aimak JSC, a subsidiary of QazaqGaz NC JSC, which is part of the group of portfolio companies of the Samruk-Kazyna Fund.

“The construction of the Sarsha gas pipeline is financed by the national company QazaqGaz. The investment amount will be about 31 billion tenge. Gasification of the Sarsha area will ensure a stable supply of gas to the agricultural and tourism industries. Among them is the Rixos hotel and other establishments that will help develop tourism in the Mangystau region. This is a very important step for the socio-economic development of the region,” said Chairman of the Board of QazaqGaz Sanzhar Zharkeshov.

Five existing recreation centers, as well as future hotels and entertainment centers that are planned to be built, will be connected to the new gas pipeline. One resort area “Warm Beach” will consume about 20 thousand m3 of gas per hour.

Water desalination

Gasification will solve the problem of water shortage in the region. One of the main consumers of new volumes of gas should be a gas-fired desalination plant, which is planned to be built.

The plant will consume up to 21 thousand cubic meters. m of gas per hour. These needs are already included in the throughput of the gas pipeline. The demand for gas from this enterprise will be greater than that of all hotels and shopping centers in the Teply Beach resort area combined. The capacity of the desalination plant will be up to 50 cubic meters. m per hour. This means that local residents will receive an additional 1.2 million liters of drinking water every day.

Agriculture

Gasification will also give impetus to the development of agriculture in the region. Due to the harsh desert conditions, there is practically no farmland in the Mangistau region. Agricultural products are produced in greenhouses, which require fuel to operate. The gas needs of agricultural producers should be solved by a new gas pipeline. Both peasant farms and greenhouses in the Karakiyansky and Munaylinsky districts will receive an additional 36.5 thousand cubic meters. m of gas per hour.

In general, the new gas pipeline will give impetus to the economic development of the region, the development of tourism potential, and stimulate the growth of small and medium-sized businesses.

A unique device, capable of warning in case of leakage, as well as completely eliminating such a concept as incorrect charges. Everything is being done within the framework of the Digital Gas Metering project. The meter has several advantages over the already outdated analogues. For example, in case of leakage, the device will signal the head computer in the company's office and the gas supply will be automatically cut off. In addition, this device is very economical and ultra-precise. Installation of the device, as well as its subsequent maintenance, including verification and sealing, is at the expense of the company KTG Aimak JSC. At the moment 100% of distribution networks and subscribers are digitised with geolocation. According to the signed memorandums, 30 metering devices with telemetry function were provided free of charge in exchange for the conclusion on operation of these metering devices on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan - 30 metering devices of "Nero Lab" company and 20 metering devices of "Texnopark" (Uzbekistan). Different standards of meter data transmission with telemetry (LoRaWan, GPRS) are being tested in Tusken microdistrict. Upon completion of the 2023-2024 OWP, an analysis of the application of 100% digital gas metering (without human intervention) and recommendations on the use of various remote data transmission technologies will be prepared.
